Project Description
Hord Coplan Macht collaborated with Sinai Hospital to create a contemplative garden and seating area adjacent to a new patient building and atrium.
The garden provides a quiet, intimate respite off of the main walkway to the hospital. It is organized to lead visitors along a meandering walk into a central bluestone terrace enclosed by bluestone seat walls. Featured in the central terrace are unique steel and glass benches, and a centrally located sundial by artist David Hess, grandson of the honoree.
A dense planting of River Birch trees provides separation from the busy hospital entry walk. Redbud trees, roses, viburnums, and other shrubs and perennials provide a lush and healthy atmosphere through the seasons. Soft uplighting and path lights make the garden an inviting and relaxing space, and visual treat in the evening, as well.
