A new product from toolmaker Stanley puts the power of accurate measuring and floor plan creation into a smart phone or tablet.

The Floor Plan App digitally measures and creates floor plans. Using a smartphone or tablet’s camera, users view a room or space through the app’s augmented reality function and can designate placement of room corners and doors. The app’s intuitive software estimates and automatically populates each room with dimensions and square footage calculations.

After all of the individual spaces have been created, the user can link them together to create a complete floor plan. The Floor Plan App also allows users to add objects such as furniture, appliances, and windows into the floor plan. The plans can be saved to a project folder and exported to be printed or imported into other software programs for a small fee. They can also be shared with others through email or Facebook, shared with other Floor Plan App users, or sent to participating retailers such as Home Depot.

Ideal for builders, remodelers, estimators, and real estate agents, the app is free to download and is available in both the Apple iTunes store and Google Play store.

The app can be used alone or synched with the company's TLM99s Laser Distance Measurer with Bluetooth for accurate measurements within 2 millimeters. With its automatic calculations, the Laser Distance Measurer makes job estimates quick and easy, the firm  instantly calculating square footage, volume, and distance. The measurer will be available in January 2015 for approximately $120.
