Habitat for Humanity’s ReStores Get Online Storefronts

DiggersList.com helps Habitat ReStores expand their marketplace for gently used building materials and ease the donation process.

Because Habitat ReStores help fund Habitat home projects by selling donated building materials, the organization wanted a way to streamline the donations process. So DiggersList created a Donation Center function, currently available through the front page of 22 cities with participating ReStores. Contractors can simply click their city’s Donation Center button, select the ReStore location they’d like their donation to benefit, fill out the form, and click send.

“In minutes they can get a donation offer to their local ReStore, which will provide an estimate of the tax deduction value, and arrange to get rid of their extra materials,” Knox says.

Other DiggersList sellers also can use the site’s Good Samaritan option to easily donate materials that just aren’t selling. If a product listed doesn’t sell within a specified time period, the Good Samaritan function sends a reminder e-mail to the seller who can then choose to convert the product listing to a ReStore donation offer.
