Herman Miller, the high-end furnishings company that helped make designers such as Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, and Isamu Noguchi household names, is expanding its offerings outdoors—again. Since 1994, the firm has been reintroducing previously discontinued selections from its revered collections. On May 9, the firm will add iconic outdoor furniture designs by Eames and Nelson to that list.

Previous outdoor items being brought back include a re-engineered version of the 1958 Eames Aluminum Group Outdoor Collection, as well as new, more weather-resistant finishes for the Eames wire tables and select Nelson tables. Herman Miller is not only restarting production on existing designs, but also commissioning new ones. These original series contain outdoor seating pieces plus dining and occasional dining tables designed exclusively for Herman Miller by its Italian design partner company, Magis

The entire outdoor line will launch in May at a pop-up store event in New York. The collection will remain in New York through July 1, when it then will be available for purchase nationwide.
