James Hardie's Aspyre Collection is a line of luxury siding that combines the company's Reveal Panel System with its Artisan Siding to blend modern and traditional aesthetics. Siding profiles in the collection can be mitered for corners and are 5/8-inches thick, so they cast "deep, gorgeous shadow lines," the company says. Siding or panels can be used individually or in combination with other products in the collection for a customized look.
CertainTeed's Cedar Impressions Shingle 7-inch Straight Edge Perfection Shingle provides a smooth, more precise siding option for a contemporary curb appeal. The shingle has a Class A flame-spread rating and the ability to withstand loads up to 200 miles per hour.
The siding comes in a broad range of colors, and the vinyl material reportedly provides the look of real cedar without the required maintenance. The manufacturer also offers the Cedar Impressions Polymer Shake and Shingle Siding for those looking for the appearance of cedar.
CertainTeed's Restoration Millwork WP4 Nickel Gap trim profile features a reversible panel that's precut with a WP4 groove on one side and a quarter-inch nickel gap on the other for two design options on one board. The profile has a "Tight-Lap" configuration to provide a larger nailing area for installation and "Finished Edge" technology for a smooth, seamless finish, according to the manufacturer.
Versatex has added two profiles to its Canvas Series of PVC trim boards: a 1/2-inch-by-6-inch tongue-and-groove beadboard and a bed mold. According to the manufacturer, its Canvas Series components have the stability and weather-resistance of Versatex premium PVC exterior trim and are available in textures and colors to mimic real cedar.
The manufacturer introduced the beadboard and bed mold in response to requests for a more traditional, beaded profile and a smaller finish molding for covering joints between ceiling boards and walls.
Trim-Tex has released a reformulated Low VOC 84 Spray Adhesive product. The new formulation cuts VOC content by weight to 40% from 55%, enabling it to meet stricter regulations. The spray will continue to be colored, making overspray easy to identify. The pressure-sensitive spray is helpful for installing expansion products, according to the manufacturer.
Ply Gem has three shingle siding options: the Double 7-inch Shingle Siding, the Triple 5-inch Shingle Siding, and the Hand-Split Shake Siding. Products in the vinyl Cedar Dimensions collection re-create the fell of rough-sawn cedar siding without the maintenance of the wood product, according to the manufacturer. The random shingle pattern and woodgrain texture replicate authentic wooden shingles. The product profiles in the Cedar Dimensions collection can withstand winds nearing 200 miles per hour.
Tando Signature Stain has added a graphite color option to its cladding line. Manufactured by Derby Building Products, the composite cladding is designed to resist moisture damage, making it suitable for roofline or ground applications, according to the company. Derby said the new graphite stain was developed in response to consumer demand and research suggesting darker colors are becoming more popular on home exteriors. The company says the graphite color offers the appearance of stained wood without the same maintenance and upkeep.
MFM Building Products has created the Ultra HT Wind & Water Seal for vertical side wall applications. The seal is a 45-mil, self-adhering, waterproofing underlayment composed of cross-laminated polymer film. Ultra HT is engineered for use under asphalt shingles and metal roofing systems and can protect against ice dams and wind-driven rain, according to the manufacturer.
