Building Materials Prices Post Slowest Growth Since 2015

The price of goods used in residential construction rose 1.5% in 2019, representing a 0.4% slowdown from 2018, according to the latest Producer Price Index (PPI), released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The last year building materials prices increased less than 1.5% was in 2015, according to the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Eye on Housing blog. The PPI also reported softwood lumber prices increased 6.7% in 2019.
