These days, buyers expect to have choices that allow them to add personal touches to their new home.

Appliance manufacturer BlueStar is upping the ante on this customization trend with a new line of refrigerators and ranges that allows customers to specify exactly what they want.

Via an online tool buyers can explore product lines, cooktop configurations, door swing options, and color preferences including more than 750 colors options and 10 metal trims for a truly bespoke kitchen design. For instance, homeowners can add a quick pop of color to the kitchen with colored knobs or outfit their range with built-in griddles, charbroilers and French tops. Burners can be positioned in different layouts on the cooking surface and oven door style options include standard drop down, swing left, swing right and restaurant-style French doors.

“We offer an almost endless number of options in both cooking equipment and refrigeration, which is unique in the industry,” says Eliza Sheffield, president. “Whether it’s a 36-inch ruby red range with an 8-inch backguard, a 12-inch griddle and four burners, or a cobalt blue, 36-inch built-in refrigerator with brass trim, we build to the customer’s personal specifications.”

The company's website also provides detailed product information, installation guides, an image gallery, recipes and cooking demonstration videos from top chefs such as Michael Symon. This new ‘Build Your Own’ tool reflects how consumers use the Internet for product information and ideas, she says. “The Internet is the first place consumers research products before they purchase," she says. “With just a few simple clicks, it’s easy to change the appliance’s specifications to reflect personal styles and preferences.”
