Modified wood cladding and decking manufacturer Kebony has launched a new line of shiplap-style paneling for interior use, Tongue-and-Groove Nickel Gap Shiplap.
Kebony’s wood modification process uses a bio-based liquid to modify the cell walls of sustainable softwoods, giving them hardwood characteristics, a rich brown color, and increased durability. Each panel is grooved at the top and bottom, allowing the pieces to fit together with horizontal reveals between each lap.
“Shiplap paneling has become increasingly popular for interiors,” says Andy Hehl, manager for Kebony US. “And Kebony’s moisture-resistant performance characteristics make it perfect for bathrooms and kitchens, where that’s a regular concern.”
The new Tongue-and-Groove Nickel Gap Shiplap is available in Kebony Clear. Six-inch panel widths are available as standard, with narrower widths available as specified. Kebony’s Traditional Shiplap is available in both a Clear and Character grade.
“Our shiplap paneling can lend an element of rusticity to a modern interior,” Hehl says. “The texture can be both elegant and warm.”
