Clean lines and a simple palette of concrete and stucco helped modernize the front of the Schena-Ricke Residence, while the addition of a setback second story brought much-needed space without adding too much visual volume from the street. Cedar siding accents the entryway.
NanaWall opening glass walls connect the new family room (formerly the master bedroom) to the existing outdoor deck, patio, and pool, as well as the new second-floor master bedroom to a rear balcony.
Skylights, a transom, and a wall of windows open up and brighten the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen features Concreteworks countertops with a rice hull finish, Caesarstone countertops in tequila sunrise, Woodmaster wenge cabinets, and appliances from Miele, Bosch, and Bluestar.
A ribbon of windows cantilevers slightly from the front of the house and features a no-mullion corner for a wraparound view.
The master bathroom features a Concreteworks countertop, Woodmaster custom cabinetry made with Teragren Synergy bamboo, and Toto Aquia dual-flush toilets.
The original concete driveway was repurposed into front walkway pavers.
