The FTC says Gorrell claimed that its Thermal Master III windows were likely to achieve residential energy savings of 40% or save 40% on home heating and cooling costs.
Long Windows, the FTC statement says, claimed that the Serious Energy Quantum 2 windows with SuperPak glass would result in "50% Energy Savings Guaranteed."
Serious Energy, the FTC says, provided its dealers with marketing materials that included claims such as, "Guaranteed to reduce your heating and cooling use by up to 49%."
The FTC complaint had said THV Holdings' telemarketing sales scripts represented that its replacement windows will "cut energy bills in half" and that homeowners would see up to a 55% reduction in monthly energy bills.
Winchester Industries, says the FTC, claimed that consumers who bought its Bristol windows would reduce energy costs by between 47% and 50% a year.
