The net-zero BrightBuilt Barn starts with a super-tight, super-insulated R-40 shell, draws energy from a 6-kW solar-electric system, solar thermal, and a geothermal system, relies on LED lighting, and refreshes the indoor air through a highly efficient HRV. The 2x6 walls are filled with dense packed cellulose with 4-inch rigid insulation to the exterior, and the roof is made with 8-inch SIPs.
