Bastyr University's student village is located at the edge of an existing conifer forest, and great care was taken to preserve the trees. Four large Douglas firs occupy the center of the village with cottages sited around them.

The ceiliing of the shared great room is made of exposed glulam beams with tongue-and-groove decking. The common kitchen contains Energy Star-certified appliances and custom cabinets constructed with FSC-certified fir veneer over non-urea-formaldehyde substrate.
