The Nation's 15 Most Affordable Housing Markets--To Buy or Rent--for Millennials

RealtyTrac used Census data first, to filter house price data and local age household demographics to get to counties with a high percentage of millennials. It then sorted that combo by the percentage of income spent on housing payments--including mortgage, insurance, taxes and maintenance--and the percentage of income spent on the average rent for a 3-bedroom home as assigned the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Finally, it took the 15 counties with the lowest percentages in each sort to determine 15 Most Affordable Markets for Buying and 15 Most Affordable Markets for Renting. More
