Mungo Homes, a Clayton Home Building Group builder, has acquired South Carolina-based McGuinn Homes, the No. 65 company on the 2026 Builder 100 list

For Mungo Homes, the acquisition strengthens its market positions in Columbia, Greenville, and Hilton Head, South Carolina and Savannah Georgia. The acquisition also expands Mungo’s footprint into Augusta, Georgia and Aiken, South Carolina. Whelan Advisory served as the exclusive financial advisor to McGuinn Homes.

“We’re excited to join the Mungo family and continue our commitment to the markets we impact,” Wade McGuinn, founder and managing shareholder of McGuinn Homes. “Together we are well positioned to provide more attainable homeownership opportunities through a shared commitment to customer service and operational excellence.”

South Carolina-based Mungo Homes was founded more than 70 years ago and currently builds in more than 10 markets across South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. According to the Builder 100 rankings, McGuinn Homes closed 993 homes in 2025.

Both organizations share a commitment to giving back to the communities they serve, Mungo Homes through its Mungo Homes Foundation and McGuinn Homes through its McGuinn Good program.

“The addition of McGuinn Homes to the Mungo family reflects our shared values of attainable homeownership, world-class team member experience, and giving back to the people and communities we serve,” said Keith Holdbrooks, CEO of Clayton Home Building Group. “This acquisition allows both teams to come together and expand access to affordable homes in more markets while serving as a united force for good through volunteerism.”

McGuinn’s product offerings will broaden Mungo’s capabilities and allow the builder to better serve a wider range of customers across the Southeast.

“This is an exciting and strategic combination, and one we see as a natural fit,” Geoff Shiley, CEO of Mungo Homes, said. “Over the past 40 years, McGuinn has built something special with a strong reputation, a values-driven culture, and a genuine commitment to the customers and communities they serve. Those are the very priorities that have guided Mungo for decades.”
