Empire Communities, the No. 56 company on the 2024 Builder 100 list, has expanded its presence in the Carolinas through the acquisition of Charlotte-based SouthCraft Home Builders.

“This acquisition allows us to continue on our path of building scale in markets we operate in,” says Wendy Hudson, chief operating officer of Empire Communities US. “We are excited to welcome SouthCraft to the Empire family, strengthening our ability to serve a diverse range of home buyers and expanding our presence in the Southeast.”

Empire Communities says its acquisition aligns with the company’s commitment to creating homes and communities that support homeowners “at every stage.” SouthCraft has a strong reputation for building attainable and quality homes, Empire says. The purchase enhances Empire’s offerings in the Charlotte market, complementing its existing portfolio and “reinforcing its dedication to delivering thoughtfully designed homes in thriving communities.”

As Canada-based Empire continues its expansion across North America, the company says the integration of SouthCraft reflects its long-term strategy to invest in markets that offer strong demand and growth potential. Within its U.S. portfolio, Empire builds and develops in Austin; Atlanta; the Carolinas; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Houston; and San Antonio.
