Dallas-based Landsea Homes works hard to craft their story to entry-level and first-time move-up millennial home buyers, their chief customer segments.
To say that story resonates well is an understatement: Year over year, Q3 2024 deliveries are up 40.4%, representing 629 new-home closings across communities in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, and Texas.
What is their secret? How do you explain Landsea Homes being recognized as the 2022 Builder of the Year by BUILDER Magazine and 2023 Green Home Builder of the Year in scarcely 10 years? Michelle Byrge, vice president of corporate sales and marketing for Landsea, offers part of the answer. “We make the home buying process as smooth as possible. We want buyers to feel confident that we’ll take care of their needs,” the veteran industry leader observes.
Today that care extends beyond Landsea Mortgage and Landsea Title to the company’s latest in-house financial service offering: Landsea Insurance Agency.
“Our financial services suite of mortgage, title, and insurance offers home buyers peace of mind from start to finish,” Byrge explains. “It also streamlines the process and presents buyers with surprisingly affordable options.”
New Closing Barrier?
Home insurance is new to the Landsea Elements financial services suite. The importance of home insurance—a mortgage loan requirement once largely taken for granted—has been supercharged in recent years. Extreme weather events like hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and wildfires have thrown easy insurance access into question, creating a new challenge for home closings.
Landsea Homes joins a growing list of proactive home builders working with Westwood Insurance Agency, the leader for embedded home insurance for builders, to eliminate home insurance concerns. Using Westwood’s proprietary technology, a home insurance quote is embedded as part of the purchase contract signing. A home buyer may elect to accept the quote or may choose to shop around. Result: One less thing for buyer and builder to worry about.
Big Winners
Byrge is delighted by the ease and convenience of adding Landsea Insurance Agency to their financial services suite. “It was an extremely smooth transition to add home insurance to Landsea Elements. We are extremely pleased,” she reports.
The big winners are our home buyers. “We’re committed to delivering an exceptional customer experience from the first contact on,” says Byrge. “Our sales, construction, lending, insurance, and escrow teams have regular weekly meetings and provide regular updates to buyers. We also ask for customers feedback throughout the process. We want to make sure the customer experience is second to none.”
Mike Forsum, president and chief operating officer of Landsea Homes, adds, “buying a home is probably the single largest purchase many of our customers will make. They deserve the opportunity to work with experts who will find them the most competitive insurance rates in a quick, seamless manner.”
Proven, Trusted Partner
Landsea Homes selected Westwood Insurance Agency as their insurance partner. Established in 1952, the agency works with more than half of the top 40 U.S. home builders, responsible for embedded home insurance solutions that help close more than 100,000 homes each year.
“We have an obligation to home buyers, employees, stockholders, and our trade partners to deliver the best service possible,” affirms Byrge. “That’s why it’s important we partner with respected industry leaders. Teaming up with Westwood is a win-win for all.”
