Out of the top-selling 50 master-planned communities in the nation by 2018 home sales, ten are in Houston or located in the Houston area, according to a new ranking by John Burns Real Estate Consulting.
The highest-ranking community in Houston, and tied for 14th overall, was Johnson Development Corp’s Sienna Plantation in Missouri City, Tex. The community had 530 new home sales in 2018, up 42% from 2017. Bridgeland in Cypress, Tex. ranked second in the area and 18th nationwide with 482 new home sales.
Land Tejas Co.’s Balmoral northeast of Houston ranked 47th on the list. The 580-acre community is also home to Texas’ first Crystal Lagoon, a two-acre manmade lagoon complete with clear blue water, white sand beaches, a hammock park and cabanas. The developer announced plans in October 2018 to build a lagoon six times as big in its Texas City community Lago Mar.
