Charles Von Schmidt of Waterfront Development, Livingston, Texas, announced Thursday a bulk lot acquisition in Cedar Point in Polk County north of Houston by Wade Jurney Homes, the nation's 35th largest builder, and Century Communities, the nation's 10th largest builder.
They will immediately begin construction on homes priced from $100,000 to $154,000. The specific number of home sites was not disclosed, nor were terms.
Cedar Point is located in Lake Livingston area, with luxury waterfront homes built by Vacation Home Builders, and smaller homes by American Dream Homes.
Wade Jurney will bring affordable housing options to the community. "This balanced approach will provide affordable housing, local jobs, and additional tax revenue," said Von Schmidt. "The Meadows of Cedar Point has been very successful; however, we are unable to meet the growing demand, and with this dynamic partnership of Wade Jurney and Century we foresee several hundred new homes being built in Cedar Point."
John Zunker, president of Wade Jurney Texas, said the company is rapidly expanding into Texas with divisions being established in multiple cities. "This makes their homes--and Cedar Point with its modern services and relaxed lifestyle--a very attractive product for young families and those moving into retirement," said Von Schmidt.
Cedar Point is a gated community directly on Lake Livingston, Texas's largest lake.
