Kentucky's Fischer Homes is another builder with a St. Jude Dream Home under its belt.

Competitors, yes. Friends, yes. And now they are on a mission. The Eagle reports from College Station, Texas:

Two building companies have teamed up to bring a St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Dream Home Showplace house to College Station in an effort to raise funds for the Memphis-based research hospital's ongoing work to fight childhood cancers.

Magruder Homes and Pitman Custom Homes will build a home in the new neighborhood of Mission Ranch over the next seven months and donate all revenue, including the sale of the home, to St. Jude. Once completed, the two-story home of 2,909 square feet will be showcased to the public for several weeks and then will be available for purchase as a regular home on the market.

About 90 people came together Monday evening at Café Eccell in Bryan for a fundraiser and to hear updates on the project. Some attended to volunteer their company's services toward the building or furnishing of the home.

Courtney Pitman, co-owner of Pitman Custom Homes, said, "We decided to come together as competitors and as really good friends because this mission is bigger than all of us."
