KB Home (NYSE: KBH) over the weekend staged the grand opening of Desert Mesa, a collection of one- and two-story homes close to downtown Las Vegas.

This new commuter-friendly neighborhood is ideally situated near Interstate 15 and employment centers, shopping, dining, and entertainment. Desert Mesa’s North Las Vegas location is within walking distance of several community parks. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy the Las Vegas Golf Course, just minutes away. Nearby Sobe Ice Arena is open to the public and offers skate classes and hockey leagues, and the Craig Ranch Regional Park features play equipment, sport courts and fields, and a skate park. Desert Mesa also provides convenient access to the Las Vegas North Premium Outlet Mall, museums, and Las Vegas’ legendary nightlife and entertainment.

Home buyers at Desert Mesa can choose from seven distinct floor plans — four single-story homes and three two-story homes. Ranging in size from 1,389 to 2,339 square feet and accommodating as many as four bedrooms and three bathrooms, the 123 KB homes planned at Desert Mesa will include expansive great rooms, gourmet kitchens with granite countertops, tankless water heaters, and exquisite stone paver driveways and walkways. Pricing begins in the $190,000s.

Home buyers who purchase a new KB home at Desert Mesa will have the opportunity to personalize many aspects of their home as part of builder’s unique home building experience. In addition to choosing their home’s community location, floor plan, and exterior design style, home buyers can adjust structural features to best fit their needs, such as adding a covered patio or creating a family game room. Buyers can then select from a wide range of flooring, cabinets, lighting, and other interior finishes and amenities to meet their preferences and budget with the help of a design professional at the KB Home Studio, a retail-like center.
