KB Home (NYSE: KBH) today announced its latest acquisition of land in the Bay Area for 36 new residences, both town homes and duet-style homes, in the affluent East Bay town of Moraga.

Ideally situated close to Highway 24, Interstates 80, 680, and 880, and the Lafayette BART station, KB Home’s future community will offer easy travel throughout the region.

With its picturesque setting in the rolling East Bay Hills, Moraga is proximate to the Moraga Country Club, Saint Mary’s College and desirable schools. Moraga is also a short drive to first-class shopping, dining and entertainment destinations in downtown Lafayette, San Francisco, and Walnut Creek. In addition, the community’s location will provide bountiful opportunities to enjoy the outdoors at several nearby East Bay regional parks, the Lafayette Reservoir Recreation Area, and Mount Diablo.

“KB Home continues to aggressively pursue new land opportunities in prime Bay Area locations,” said Chris Apostolopoulos, regional president of KB Home’s California operations. “This newest acquisition in Moraga demonstrates our ongoing focus on actively growing our business in choice areas where home buyers want to live and the supply of new homes is limited.”

The seven planned two- and three-story floor plans will range in size between 1,804 and 2,347 square feet, with up to five bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths and feature two-car garages. The new townhomes and duets are expected to evoke a modern aesthetic, distinguished by open layouts, spacious kitchens, and ample storage space. Local press reports put pricing in the $1,000,000 range.

The homes offered at KB Home’s new Moraga community will include solar as a standard feature and be built to ENERGY STAR 3.0® guidelines and include WaterSense® labeled faucets and fixtures, meaning they are designed to be more energy- and water-efficient than most other typical new and resale homes. The water- and energy-saving features built into every new KB home can help homeowners save on their monthly utility bills.
