Even in the California desert, home prices are quickly outpacing the ability of many to afford them. The Desert Sun reports:

Median home prices in the Coachella Valley continued their ascent in the first three months of 2018, and the number of homes available for sale kept dropping, too.

The pickings are especially slim for homes priced at $300,000 or lower, making competition for those houses doubly tight. Meanwhile, new home building has remained at historic lows.

That leaves sellers in a position of power this spring, especially if they’re listing a home for under $300,000.
