More than 300 parrot heads, a.k.a. fans of musician Jimmy Buffett and the laid back tropical lifestyle he exudes, last weekend descended upon Minto Communities and Margaritaville Holdings LATITUDE MARGARITAVILLE Daytona Beach, a new 55-and-better active adult community, which opened for sale on Monday.
The celebration started on Sunday, November 12, as aspiring future residents camped outside the sales center overnight. While getting to know their new neighbors, the group had the community’s first unofficial block party complete with live entertainment, complimentary food and drinks, games and more (cheeseburger in paradise, perhaps). On Monday, November 13, the sales center opened at 9 a.m.
“The first day of sales at LATITUDE MARGARITAVILLE Daytona Beach was a record setting event,” said Minto senior vp William Bullock. “The high demand for homes at LATITUDE MARGARITAVILLE Daytona Beach will continue, and with the limited number of home sites that remain we encourage interested buyers to act quickly and visit our sales center.”
The companies, however, did not disclose how many lots were sold. It did say that the sales center opened its doors to interested buyers for preview tours on Monday, October 30th and since then has hosted more than 3,000 people looking to make LATITUDE MARGARITAVILLE Daytona Beach their new home.
“We’re coming here for a wonderful, laid-back lifestyle and a fun atmosphere. I foresee a lot of block parties in our future!” said Susan Veatch, the official first customer to secure a home site in LATITUDE MARGARITAVILLE Daytona Beach. “The experience has been absolutely incredible. Everything from the Minto and Margaritaville family inside the sales center, to the way it has been organized for those of us that did want to camp out overnight to make sure we got our lot number. I could not have asked for a smoother transition!”
LATITUDE MARGARITAVILLE Daytona Beach is now selling homes in the first phase of 378 home sites. Current plans call for 3,000 homes to be built, with the possibility of a future expansion including a total of 6,900 homes. Due to a limited number of home sites in the first release, sales are available in person on a first come, first served basis. Villas and single-family homes ranging from 1,503 to 2,564 square feet under air are now available for purchase, with prices starting in the low $200’s. Model homes are currently under construction and are expected to open in early 2018.
“It was awesome to witness the future residents of Latitude Margaritaville create their own community, under a tent, while waiting in line to pick out their new homes. They shared stories, their dreams of living in Margaritaville, their passion for the Margaritaville lifestyle and bonded over this once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said Tamara Baldanza-Dekker, chief marketing officer of Margaritaville, while searching for a lost shaker of salt. “Strangers became friends overnight and by the time they entered the sales center, many of them chose to be next door neighbors. We can’t wait for everyone to move in so we can officially welcome them home!”
In February, Margaritaville Holdings and Minto Communities announced their partnership to develop LATITUDE MARGARITAVILLE active adult communities in some of the nation’s most popular destinations. LATITUDE MARGARITAVILLE Daytona Beach is the first location set to open. A second community is planned for Hilton Head, South Carolina, with its sales center projected to open in early 2018.
