On August 23rd, Crystal Lagoons and developer Land Tejas will host the grand opening of the 2-acre Crystal Lagoons amenity at the Balmoral master-planned community in Humble, Texas. It is the first man-made crystalline lagoon to open in Texas, the second to open in the U.S., and will be the first in the U.S. to open for resident use with a full suite of associated amenities.

The grand opening will feature aquatic performers and a special guest appearance from Olympic swimming champion and Crystal Lagoons official global ambassador Michael Phelps.

“We are excited to open our very first crystalline lagoon in Texas, as just one of many spectacular, tropical-style aquatic amenities we expect to develop across the state,” said Kevin P. Morgan, executive vice president of Crystal Lagoons U.S. Corp. “Within the next few years, Texas will be our leading U.S. market. Our projects represent the future of outdoor lifestyle amenities, while also bringing enormous value to real estate projects such as Balmoral.”

The patented Crystal Lagoons technology requires up to 100 times fewer chemicals and 50 times less energy to operate and maintain than a traditional pool. The water is up to eight feet deep, covers an area about the size of two football fields, and features a kids’ play area and two white sand beaches – the Family Beach and the Serenity Beach.

The lagoon is located in the middle of the Houston-area community's 8-acre amenity village, which will include a clubhouse, sand volleyball, a food truck courtyard, splash pad, playground, and infinity-edge pool overlooking the lagoon. Both the lagoon and the amenity village will open for resident use in September.

“Land Tejas has always been a market innovator, delivering first-class amenities to our residents,” said Al Brende, owner and co-founder of Land Tejas. “Our partnership with Crystal Lagoons is taking us to new frontiers, bringing beach life, aquatic sports and tropical lagoons to select Land Tejas communities."

Texas’s second Crystal Lagoons project is currently under construction at the Windsong Ranch community in Prosper, Tex. A total of four additional Crystal Lagoons amenities are underway in Texas, two of which are with Land Tejas.

The first Crystal Lagoons amenity in the U.S. is a 7.5-acre water body at the Epperson community outside Tampa, Fla., which opened earlier this year. Crystal Lagoons has over 21 ongoing deals across the U.S., plus 60 more in active negotiations. Over 600 Crystal Lagoons projects have been planned, started, or completed across the globe.
