At the foot of Silverwood Lake in Hesperia, California, DMB Development is bringing a new concept to its 9,366-acre master-planned community, Silverwood. Based on a “culture of kindness,” the development will usher in small-town charm and attainably priced houses to the area.
Lennar, Richmond American Homes, Watt Capital Developers, and Woodside Homes will partner with DMB to bring the kindness-based community to life as the first four builders. Offering both first-time and move-up buyer homes, the first phase will include more than 2,000 homesites with a planned grand opening slated for early 2025.
“We are thrilled to partner with our home builders to bring this much-needed housing inventory to Southern California where a lack of supply, especially for middle-class families looking to own, has been a challenge,” says John Ohanian, general manager of Silverwood. “We are also excited to develop this new community in an environmentally responsible way, taking advantage of the spectacular setting—creating a place where families can grow and thrive.”
All four builders have crafted unique home designs and floor plans specifically for Silverwood. The collection of more than 20 options offers a variety of home sizes with features tailored to various lifestyles. Floor plans may include RV and toy parking; rear yard casitas; multigenerational floor plans; front porches; and bold exterior paint colors. Silverwood will also provide xeroscaping, solar, and dual-plumbed homes to allow use of nonpotable water on all landscaping.
With a goal of evoking small-town charm, Silverwood is centered around walkability and neighborly connections amid nature. Wide-open landscapes will introduce 59 miles of off-street trails, 107 miles of paths and paseos, and 387 acres of parks. Over half of the total land is reserved for parks and natural space with access to the Pacific Crest Trail and Silverwood Lake.
The new development’s amenities will highlight its community center, The Crest Club, with outdoor activities to include a splash pad, a resort-style pool, and pickleball and basketball courts. A poolside kitchen, a game room, and The Village Green, an open-space area with a bandstand for live music and picnic tables, create additional places for neighbors to gather.
“Silverwood will create the opportunity for thousands of families to live in a gorgeous natural setting with endless opportunities for outdoor recreation, all within a reasonable commute to San Bernardino, Riverside, Ontario, and other existing employment hubs,” says Ohanian.
Silverwood is entitled for more than 15,000 homes, 700,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, and 4,900 acres of open space. More than $1.6 billion will be invested into the region’s infrastructure and services over the next 25 years, DMB notes.
