The township commissioners of Lower Macungie Township, Penn. have approved a preliminary plan for the second phase of the Stone Hill Meadows subdivision. The 101-acre community is the first and only project that has adopted Lower Macungie’s open space development concept.
Under this zoning variance, developer BT Stone Hill aims to build 140 new homes in dense clusters that cover only 30% of the development. The remaining land will be left as open green space.
Since this is currently the only development in the township that follows the new plan, township planning director Sara Pandl has said it may be included as a model in future versions of the township zoning ordinance.
Construction of the first 24 homes at Stone Hill Meadows is already underway. Three model homes are available for tours, and some of the homes have been sold. The recently approved second phase will at another 85 homes, and a final 31 homes have been proposed for the third phase.
