Developer Hillwood Communities has purchased an additional 366 acres for the Wolf Ranch master-planned community, which opened its first phase in early 2017.
The new land tract, known as the “Guy tract”, includes three miles of river frontage along the South San Gabriel River. The developer plans to build 800 single-family homes on the property, which will also contain 23 acres of parkland. Construction is expected to start in late 2019, with homes opening on the property in 2020.
In response to concerns from local community members about the number of trees that may be destroyed when the tract is developed, Hillwood Communities stated that it was in the “best interests” of the company to preserve as many trees as possible. “We feel that is the right thing to do in terms of creating a unique community and being good stewards of the land,” said Duke Kerrigan, the company’s Austin general manager.
The Wolf Ranch development now spans 1,120 acres, and is expected to contain 2,600 homes at full buildout, as well as several multifamily projects. At present, 135 homes have been built at Wolf Ranch and 635 apartments have been constructed.
