Last week, Land Tejas Development hosted a “Fill the Lagoon” party at its Balmoral community in Humble, Tex., where many of Houston’s builders, real estate executives, local officials and other guests were among the first to add water to its signature Crystal Lagoons amenity.

The 2-acre amenity, now in its final stages of construction, is made possible through a water filtration and management technology suite provided by Crystal Lagoons, a water technology company based in Chile with a U.S. headquarters in Miami. Balmoral’s man-made lagoon will be the first Crystal Lagoons project to open in Texas and the second to open in the nation.

Both the Crystal Lagoons amenity and Balmoral’s $13 million, 8-acre Amenity Village are set to open together later this summer, making Balmoral’s amenity the first in the United States to open with a complete amenity suite. The Amenity Village will also include a clubhouse, a food truck courtyard, hammock park, sand volleyball court, playground, splash pad, and infinity-edge pool overlooking the lagoon.

“This is groundbreaking not just in the elevated level of amenities we are introducing, but also in terms of the crystal clear lagoon technology,” says Tim Johnson, Director of Community Sales and Marketing for Land Tejas. “These lagoons use 100 times fewer additives than traditional swimming pools and 50 percent less water than is required by a city park of the same size. The result is lower maintenance costs and minimal environmental impact.”

Sales at Balmoral began last year, and approximately 150 families have moved into the community. Colina Homes, D.R. Horton, Empire Communities, Gray Point by Gehan Homes, Highland Homes, HistoryMaker Homes and Westin Homes are offering homes priced from the $200,000s to the $500,000s.
