1995 AIA GOLD MEDAL: American-Argentinian designer César Pelli, FAIA, first practiced at the offices of Eero Saarinen, where he worked on iconic works such as the TWA Terminal at the JKF Airport. In 1977, Pelli became the dean of architecture at Yale University and also established his own firm. His personal portfolio has become famous for some of the world's tallest buildings. He also served on the 1969 P/A Awards Jury.

In 1995, the American Institute of Architects awarded Cesar Pelli the Gold Medal, its highest honor for an individual. In 2004, the firm was given the Aga Khan Award for Architecture for the Petronas Towers.
