Jim Clark, entrepreneur and founder of Silicon Graphics, NetScape, WebMD, MyCFO and Shutterfly, has introduced a new integrated whole-home management system. The CommandScape control system is optimized for commercial properties and for high-end single-family homes and home owners. Its control suite represents a connected property as a fully-rendered floor plan on a mobile interface. As of the platform’s launch in August, users can access video surveillance motion detection, security controls, and adjust lighting from anywhere in the world across multiple properties.
Instead of conventional password-protection, CommandScape’s cybersecure access is based on certificate processes and device-based encryption, similar to those used in NetScape. CommandScape users can authorize access from certain individuals and devices, and adjust levels of permission and access for different users.
“There has been limited building management innovation over the last several years and in turn, there remains a need for a highly secure and integrated control system suitable for commercial properties and large homes,” says Clark. “CommandScape solves that problem with the next generation of security and control that allows users to connect and manage their property though an intuitive application anywhere and anytime. Our world class leadership and engineering teams have worked to perfect the system for anyone who is authorized to interact with it.”
Clark has appointed Don Boerema as President and CEO of CommandScape. Boerema has held leadership roles with Proctor & Gamble, PepsiCo, AT&T Wireless, and FDN Communications. He comes to CommandScape from The ADT Corporation, where he held the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Corporate Development Officer.
As the platform develops, CommandScape will focus on building a network of integrator partners to expand CommandScape’s functions and abilities. www.commandscape.com
