While multigenerational house plans come in a variety of sizes and styles, perhaps they make the most sense for vacation home designs.
After all, a home with an in-law suite can accommodate more than, well, in-laws. Friends will appreciate the extra privacy of their own bathroom. Ditto adult children.
Here’s a new house plan that provides all of that. Oh, and stunning curb appeal with tons of windows to capture a lakefront view. (See more lake house plans here.)

Let’s have a look at the back. A walkout basement adds extra space on a sloping lot. And look at those two levels of outdoor living.

Looking at the main-level layout, here’s where the multigenerational aspect comes into play. Separated from the main living areas by a dog trot, the guest suite provides a private sitting room, wet bar, bedroom, bathroom, and access to the back deck.

Upstairs, two more suites sit far apart from one another, with a loft and wet bar in the middle. Each room gets its own deck.

The walkout lower level can be finished to hold a family room, wet bar (yes, another), a wine cellar, and much more. Check out the spacious storage zones.
