FourPlans: Impressive Islands

2 MIN READ

Want to wow buyers? Deliver a big kitchen island. Not only will it boost your layout’s looks, but it’s also incredibly practical, offering counter space and often extra seating. Here are four great ones to check out.

Practical Luxury

Take a cottage exterior and combine with a modern, open layout, and you’ve got this new plan, an instant classic. The kitchen features a wide, angled island (large enough to hold a cooktop, sink, counter space, and lots of snack bar seating) that looks out to the great room and breakfast nook. Nearby, the dining room is dressed up with columns and a tray ceiling. The master suite enjoys a large shower, separate tub, and walk-in closets. Two additional bedrooms use a full hall bath. Don’t miss the spacious utility zone. See more images, information, and the floor plan.

Simple and Open

A wide, straight island with a sink and snack bar serves the open great room and breakfast area. The computer nook and nearby walk-in closet are useful details. Upstairs, the master suite features a private bathroom with a large walk-in closet, windowed tub, and separate shower. Two of the three additional bedrooms enjoy walk-in closets. A laundry rooms adds convenience on this level. See more images, information, and the floor plan.

Big and Bold

With two islands—one angled with snack bar seating and the other in the middle for more prep room—this kitchen is ready for a large family that likes to entertain. The back half of the plan presents itself to the pool area where the master suite, family room, and breakfast room surround the centrally located rear porch with summer kitchen. The dining room and library open to a side courtyard. With a second floor game room adjacent to the upper three bedrooms, children and their friends can enjoy some privacy from Mom and Dad. See more images, information, and the floor plan.

Smart Starter Home

Only 36 feet wide, this design fits onto a narrow lot with ease and features an open living area with no barriers between the great room, island kitchen (where there’s seating for four), and dining nook. Sleeping areas in back are arranged for privacy for the master suite without being too far away from young children. See more images, information, and the floor plan.
