Offering both beauty and brains, these designs come from the Energy Saver Plus Collection, which features plans that boast energy savings of 40% to 50% compared to typical new homes. Case studies by the DOE showed the first two plans here achieved HERS index scores below zero. All of the plans incorporate smart details, such as interior ducts under the vented attic, standard 2x6 framing, California corners, raised heel trusses, and roof real estate for solar PV panels. Together, these account for impressive energy efficiency and savings. The plans offer three different elevations—French country, Mediterranean, or Southern—for each layout, giving variety to a development or flexibility for building in an established neighborhood.
