Perched on a hilltop in Beverly Hills, California, overlooking the surrounding mountains, the 6,899-square-foot Reflection House recently garnered a grand at the Gold Nugget Awards for Best Custom Home 5,000 to 7,500 square feet.

Although the jurors were likely lured in by the motor court with an inconspicuous flame-sprayed nickel wall that transforms into a custom bi-fold garage door hidden behind vertical oak glulam louvers, the rippling infinity pool immediately catches viewers’ eyes as soon as they walk through the front door.

The design team, including architecture firm Shubin Donaldson, luxury builder Hill Construction Co., landscape architect Hocker, and interior designer Lucas Interior, worked together to organize the home’s floor plan around a pool and a larger reflection pool. The signature water feature not only consumes most of the backyard but also directly abuts the living room’s window, creating the illusion of a floating water slab hovering past the canyon’s edge.

In addition to views from the neighboring sunken fire pit lounge and outdoor dining area, the homeowners can appreciate the different angles of reflections throughout the day while inside as well, from the primary suite and hall to the main living areas.
