As you gear up for the new year, don't forget that NAHB's 2016 International Builders' Show (IBS) is just around the corner. The IBS is the world's largest annual light construction show and educational program; it will take place Jan. 19-21 in Las Vegas.
The upcoming show offers attendees many new activities and programs, the most significant of which is our presidential candidate forum. This unprecedented event is a chance for the NAHB to impress on the candidates the size and scope of our industry and learn where they stand on the issues that concern us.
We also will continue to partner with other shows to produce the innovative Design & Construction Week (DCW). Building on the success of the past two years, we are now joining forces with three shows: the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show; the International Surface Event, showcasing flooring, stone and tile; and the International Window Coverings Show.
For IBS attendees, this means access to all four trade shows and a chance to see products from more than 2,000 exhibitors. (There are complimentary shuttles to the International Surface Event, which is located off-site).
You can't afford to miss the educational offerings at this year's show. Attendees who purchase full registration can choose from more than 120 sessions from eight specialty tracks.
I hope you will stop by the Innovation Hub. New this year, the hub covers the latest innovations in technology, building materials, and financing through leading-edge learning formats such as daily thought leader programs, attendee-led sessions, and more.
Attendees also can participate in exhibitor-led education sessions on the show floor through our Exhibitor Floor Forums program. Plan to visit the NAHB "Centrals" to network and learn about the latest trends in remodeling, custom building, 55+ housing, sales, design, and multifamily construction.
These are just a fraction of the show's educational offerings. Please take advantage of this enriching curriculum—what you learn at the IBS may very well be the key ingredient to the success of your business.
No IBS is complete without a trip to the New American Home. Now in its 33rd year, the official NAHB show house is both a construction laboratory and a product showcase. It utilizes the most cutting-edge technologies, as well as the latest green building materials, products, energy efficiencies and construction methods.
The IBS also abounds with entertainment and opportunities to network and have fun. You won't want to miss the Opening Ceremonies featuring acclaimed comedian Jay Leno, and be sure to stop by the IBS House Party at the Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas. Attendees under 40 definitely should visit the Young Professionals After-Hours Party at the Foxtail Nightclub. To wrap things up, join us Thursday night for the IBS Spike Concert presented by Geico and headlined by Daryl Hall and John Oates.
The 2016 International Builders' Show promises to be a great event. I hope to see you there.
