When Baby Boomers decide to act en masse, which they do often, big things happen. Consider the villa. The Toledo Blade reports:

Toledo area builder Brian McCarthy isn’t sure when the steady supply of Baby Boomers will run out.

“It’s kind of hard to put a finger on it,” he said with a laugh.

For now, however, there is no end in sight to the 55-and-over crowd of buyers looking to downsize into a maintenance-free, zero lot line, single-story villa home.

The demand for villas, which began accelerating in 2011 when the first of the Baby Boomers hit retirement age, has meant good news for area builders like Mr. McCarthy of McCarthy Builders in Sylvania Township, and others who specialize in that type of home.
