The 2025 U.S. Houzz Emerging Summer Trends Report identified eight themes based on the latest search insights from its community of users. Check out what’s heating up in homes this summer below.
1. Color Schemes
Homeowners are leaning into color, with searches for “color drenching” up 325%. Whether opting for cool or warm tones, or getting artistic with monochromatic and analogous color schemes, owners are looking to create immersive, mood-setting environments.
2. Wood-Drenched Spaces
Natural materials remain a favorite. Searches for “living rooms with light hardwood floors” are up 400%, while “white oak kitchen cabinets” and “wood-paneled offices” saw notable increases as well.
3. Vintage Style
Vintage designs are seeing a surge in popularity. Searches for “vintage bathroom vanities” spiked 313% year over year. There’s also growing interest in full-room styling with searches doubling for “vintage living rooms” and “vintage kitchens.”
4. Warm Metal Accents
Metallic details continue to be the jewelry of home interiors. Whether it’s “copper pendant lighting” (up 250%), “gold bathroom vanity lights” (up 60%), or “brushed gold bathroom faucets” (up 41%), search insights give a nod to metal accents with sophisticated, modern flourishes.
5. French Country
French country style is finding fresh appeal in homes. Searches for “French country bathrooms” are up 54%, while “modern French country kitchens” are up 45%. Most notably, there’s been a 287% spike in “French country chandeliers,” suggesting that lighting is playing a key role in softening and elevating a room.
6. Beverage Stations
Searches for “whiskey bars” (up 82%) and “coffee bars” (up 19%) are becoming staples, alongside “beverage and wine fridges,” “small wet bars,” and “beverage bars.” These additions reflect a desire for easy, accessible and visually appealing drink setups, perfect for summer evenings.
7. Fun Zones
Summer is also inspiring homeowners to carve out space for pure play. Searches for “putting greens” are up 70%, while “poker tables,” “Lego rooms,” “billiard rooms,” and “video game rooms” are all seeing increased attention, too.
8. Low-Water Landscaping
As water conservation becomes a greater priority, homeowners are turning to low-water landscapes. “Succulent gardens” saw a 205% rise in searches year over year. Mediterranean gardens and landscapes are gaining popularity, with searches jumping 94% and 79%, respectively.
