Active adult community listing service 55places.com has released its seventh annual list of the 100 Most Popular Active Adult Communities of 2019.
55places.com compiles its list based on internal data points tied to user behavior and sales leads. These include the community’s unique pageviews between April 2018 and March 2019, the number of times a 55places.com user has saved a community to their account between January and March 2019, and the number of internal sales leads and home sales initiated through 55places.com between April 2018 and March 2019.
Florida has by far the largest number of active adult communities in the top 100 at 40, followed by Arizona with 17 and New Jersey with ten. Ocala, Fla. is home to the most top 100 communities at four, followed by Leesburg, Fla., Monroe, N.J., Summerfield, Fla. and Surprise, Ariz., at three. Of Florida’s 40 communities, 16 are in Central Florida, ten are in Central Gulf Coast Florida and nine are in Southeast Florida.
The top ten most popular communities are:

- Latitude Margaritaville – Daytona Beach, Fla.
- Solivita — Kissimmee, Fla.
- Sun City Hilton Head — Bluffton, S.C.
- The Villages – The Villages, Fla.
- Sun City Texas — Georgetown, Tex.
- Sun City Center, Fla.
- Kings Point – Sun City Center, Fla.
- Sun City Grand – Surprise, Ariz.
- Pelican Preserve — Fort Myers, Fla.
On Top of the World, developed by a builder of the same name, has risen to first place in 55places.com’s internal metrics. Its home prices range from less than $100,000 to $400,000, and its residents speak highly of its wide variety of physical activities. Latitude Margaritaville, last year’s No. 1 choice, ranks second this year.
