The judges loved the design and craftsmanship of this 6,700-square-foot Wyoming residence. “It doesn’t seem overdone, even at this scale,” one juror said. Another judge noted the home’s “consistently good detailing.”

Architect Eric Logan faced the formidable challenge of visually integrating the home into its neighborhood while still making a distinctive building. He decided to break down the plan into three interlinked pavilions, two of which feature gabled roofs. The third, more modern portion is less visible from the street. Its cantilevered roof extends deep into the backyard, creating a protected outdoor room with wide-angle views of the Teton mountain range.

An interior materials palette of wood, glass, and plaster conveys a warm simplicity. “The clients were definitely interested in a light, bright interior that was connected to the site,” Logan says. The owners’ art collection includes a kimono that served as a touchstone for
