The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) named Minto Communities USA in Tampa, Fla., the Builder of the Year, and that firm’s Latitude Margaritaville in Daytona Beach, Fla., the Community of the Year, as part of the 2018 Best of 55+ Housing Awards. The annual awards program, held during the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, honors excellence and innovation in the design, development, lifestyle and marketing of housing that appeals to the mature market.

Minto Communities has identified some major trends in the lifestyle goals of 55+ homeowners and developed successful communities and quality homes that reflect those trends. In partnership with global brand Margaritaville Holdings, Minto Communities is developing 55+ master-planned communities inspired by the lifestyle of fun, food and music depicted in the songs of famed singer, songwriter and best-selling author Jimmy Buffett.

Latitude Margaritaville has found its fans among 55+ homebuyers. More than 2,600 attended the model homes grand opening in February 2018. Within the first nine months, 400 homes were sold, and phase one in Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach is nearly sold out. Minto Communities has two other Latitude Margaritaville communities in the works: one in Hilton Head, S.C., and one on Florida’s panhandle.

Latitude Margaritaville delivers an authentic “no worries” tropical vibe to health conscious, active 55+ homebuyers with resort-style amenities, walkable neighborhoods and golf cart friendly streets and colorful island-inspired homes. Latitude Town Square has a band shell for concerts and dancing.

The easy-care single-family homes and villas feature open, airy spaces that maximize natural light and flow into uniquely designed outdoor living spaces perfect for enjoying the Daytona Beach climate. These homes are ideally designed for relaxing, entertaining and comfortably accommodating houseguests.

“Minto Communities demonstrates innovative design, marketing and positioning with Latitude Margaritaville,” said Steve Moore, chair of the Best of 55+ Housing Awards Subcommittee. “Out of the gate, the solid sales success is clearly a result of this end-to-end approach to lively, vibrant 55+ living.”
