More than 400 custom houses, kitchens, baths, accessory buildings, outdoor spaces, details, and on the boards projects were vetted by four jurors, who selected 29 of them as the 2012 CHDA winners. As usual, our jury this year included two architects—Michael Imber of Austin, Texas-based Michael G. Imber Architects, and Sarah Nettleton of Minneapolis-based Sarah Nettleton Architects—along with two custom builders—Jake Talbot of Little Compton, R.I.–based Jacob Talbot Fine Homebuilders, and John Brink of John Brink Construction in Tahoe City, Calif. After narrowing down the hundreds of entries to just 29 winners, the jurors bestowed one Custom Home of the Year award, seven Grand awards, and 21 Merit awards. A complete list of these winning projects follows, and full details and photographs will be published in Custom Home’s May/June issue. Web-exclusive images and details about these winners also will appear on customhomeonline.com.
