2005 Custom Home Design Awards

1 MIN READ

Now in its 10th year, the CUSTOM HOME Design Awards program continues to attract some of the finest houses in the country—this year more than 350 homes vied for honors. The cream of this crop, the winners of the 2005 competition, are featured in this special section. This year’s program was judged by a panel of four outstanding industry professionals, chosen for their own fine accomplishments in designing and building custom houses. Thanks go to judges Andy Beck, Beck Construction, Vail, Colo.; Mark Hutker, AIA, Mark Hutker Architects, Vineyard Haven, Mass., and Falmouth, Mass.; Grant Rhode, GF Rhode Construction, Boston; and Steve Vanze, AIA, Barnes Vanze, Washington, D.C. They narrowed the field of entries to 25 outstanding projects. The winners hail from every region of the country and represent a wide range of architectural styles and solutions. The common thread running through all of these projects is a disciplined approach to design, respect for the site and the client’s program, and the kind of careful craftsmanship that distinguishes custom home building performed at the highest level.
