A proposed zoning change on the West End of Cincinnati is causing controversy over the new FC Cincinnati Major League Soccer stadium crowding out neighborhood residents, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Team officials had pledged that nobody would be displaced and the crowd was not happy.
Frustration grew with nobody at the meeting from the city to answer questions, beyond basic zoning questions. But former Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory, who is the team's community liaison, did answer questions directed at the team.
West End community members gathered at Seven Hills Neighborhoods Houses to argue against their displacement for the FC Cincinnati stadium.
The crowd didn’t like what he had to say. When he told them the property owner who sold the buildings to the team should be working with them to find new homes, people called the owner a liar. When Mallory said the team will be flexible with move-out dates, the crowd grew angrier.
