Southern Land Co. (SLC), a national real estate developer headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, has announced the home builder team at Westerly, its new 400-acre master-planned community in Erie, Colorado, which broke ground last month.

The builder team will consist of SLC Homebuilding, Southern Land Co.’s in-house building group, as well as two Colorado home builders: McStain Neighborhoods, based in Denver, and Wonderland Homes, based in Greenwood Village.

“Collectively, this team of builders has an outstanding track record of high-quality, creativity, and successful development,” says Heidi Majerik, SLC vice president and general manager of Westerly. “It is important to Southern Land Co. to partner with builders that complement one another as we strive to deliver an unparalleled living experience to a wide variety of residents.”

SLC Homebuilding, McStain Neighborhoods, and Wonderland Homes will build approximately 1,200 homes at Westerly. The community will feature five distinct product lines. Homes will be situated along thoughtfully landscaped streets and open green spaces, which have been designed by SLC’s in-house design and horticulture teams in conjunction with Denver-based PCS Group.

Additionally, homes will feature welcoming front porches, and two product lines will feature alley-load garages. Sidewalks and walking trails connecting all parts of the community will make Westerly pedestrian-friendly and encourage neighborly interaction.

The community will include a variety of greenways for residents to enjoy, as well as expansive views of Longs Peak and the entire Front Range. More than 100 acres of Westerly will be undeveloped open spaces. A community town center is planned, which is expected to include a mixture of restaurants, shops, and services within approximately 35,000 square feet of commercial space.

In addition, residents living in Westerly will have access to gathering areas for fitness and outdoor recreation, including a swimming pool, a great lawn, and various play areas. There will also be an approximately 5,000-square-foot indoor space for community gathering and indoor fitness.

“SLC Homebuilding has a proven history of success, and we are excited to bring the team’s skills and talents to the Denver market for the first time in conjunction with Southern Land Co.’s first master-planned community in Denver,” says David Bracht, national president of home building and acquisitions at SLC. “With the partnership of McStain and Wonderland—two reputable, respected home building institutions—we are poised to create a community of truly unique and dynamic homes.”

The Westerly builders expect to break ground on model homes before the end of the year.
