The annual Southern Energy and Environment Expo (SEEE), which this year will be held August 21 – 23 at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center in Fletcher, N.C. (near Asheville), focuses on clean energy, sustainability, and green building. The event highlights actions the general public can take to contribute to a more secure, stable, and sustainable future. Among other things it will offer yet-to-be-determined educational presentations on sustainability, renewable sources of energy, and creating green homes.
One of the highlights of the conference and exposition will be the Green Home Tour scheduled for August 22. Several residences in Henderson and Buncombe counties showcasing green technologies and design solutions will be featured, along with some green commercial buildings. Tour participants will learn about sustainable home design, as well as how to create native gardens, edible landscaping, and energy-efficient log cabins, according to the Environmental & Conservation Organization (ECO), which organized the tour.
The Green Home Tour will be held annually in conjunction with SEEE. Home builders may apply to have a home included on next year's tour in spring 2010. To purchase Green Home Tour tickets, visit www.eco-wnc.org. For more information about SEEE, visit www.seeexpo.com.
