By Matthew Power. A Florida developer has found a way to make residential sprinklers more than pay for themselves. Highland Real Estate worked with Lake County, Fla., fire officials to install sprinklers in each of its new homes, eliminating the need for an additional water supply in its local Arrowtree Reserve development. A spokesperson for Wayne Automatic, one of the sprinkler providers, says builders first reacted with skepticism and had to be convinced that home sprinkler systems could work--at the same time saving on water infrastructure costs.
