This week the EPA announced a settlement worth $67,180 with Advanced Windows Inc. of Frederick, Md., addressing alleged environmental violations during window replacement work reports Remodeling's Sean Wallisch. Wallisch writes:
Advanced Windows allegedly violated the agency's Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule (RRP) and the Toxic Substances Control Act. The EPA says Advanced Windows failed to provide the owner and adult occupants of the development with EPA-approved lead hazard pamphlets, failed to post warning signs, and failed to retain records demonstrating compliance with lead safe work practices.
Advanced Windows will pay $67,180 to settle the claim and has now certified with the EPA they are now in compliance. The agency is in the process of examining its own lead-paint rules.
