City officials, a local builder, and the community at large in Medford, Ore. have teamed up to build a Vietnam veteran a new home, KTVL staffer Kimberly Kolliner reports.

The veteran, William Verschoor, was at risk of losing his home of 42 years because of poor living conditions.

When Hayden Homes found out about Verschoor’s situation, the company immediately got involved. "It was very easy for us to say yes very quickly and what was amazing is the minute we did people started talking to people, all of the trade partners, our vendors, our suppliers said hey can we be part of that as well," said Shane Johnson, Hayden Homes director.

"We have a chance as a community to say thank you, I think it's the right thing to do," said Johnson.
