Landsea Homes, the No. 42 company on the 2024 Builder 100 list, added several new features as standard offerings to its High Performance Home program.
“Homeowners today are increasingly expecting the latest tech features, and we are committed to remaining the industry standard in delivering high-quality and innovative homes,” says Landsea Homes CEO John Ho.
The new features include the Ecobee smart doorbell camera, which allows for enhanced security and lets homeowners see what is happening outside their home. The doorbell is compatible with Apple Home, Google, and Alexa. The Ecobee product is now included as a standard offering in the home automation package of the HPH.
Also included in the upgrade are WaterSense fixtures and energy efficient windows, which enhance water efficiency and help reduce costs on monthly energy and water bills.
“These innovations and features not only enhance comfort and convenience but also add long-term value by reducing energy costs and improving sustainability,” says Josh Santos, vice president of corporate home building operations for Landsea Homes. “For example, smart thermostats allow residents to optimize heating and cooling schedules to conserve energy, while light dimmer switches provide better control over light usage. Together, these technologies help lower energy bills and reduce environmental impact.”
In order to identify what new features to add to the HPH, Santos tells BUILDER that Landsea Homes surveyed prospects and recent home buyers to ask about features they perceived as most important.
“An overwhelming 57% of survey respondents said water conservation was very important to them, ranking it the most important feature across all respondents,” Santos says. “Additionally, on the topic of home security, the majority of respondents said they would be adding a doorbell and security camera. From there, the [Landsea] team began their search in finding the best products to align with the survey feedback.”
Santos says once the products were identified, Landsea updated its HPH Interactive Experience, which provides prospective buyers to see how features will work in their home.
The HPH program is broken into four pillars: sustainability, healthy lifestyle, home automation, and energy savings. The builder has selected materials and features in the four pillars for their efficient use of energy, environmental consciousness, or contribution to comfort and health. Products, such as tankless water heaters, ENERGY STAR appliances, and environmentally conscious building materials go beyond basic code and material requirements. Landsea says the HPH demonstrates the builder’s commitment to sustainable building practices, lighter environmental impact, fewer resource consumption, and reduced carbon footprint.
Across all its operating markets, each Landsea home has designated High Performance features.
“By integrating smart home technology and energy-efficient features, our goal is to provide beautiful homes that are also sustainable, functional, and aligned with the needs of today’s home buyer,” Santos says. “Home buyers have come to expect these features in their homes to make life easier and more comfortable, save money, and contribute to a healthier planet.”
Santos says Landsea Homes plans to continue to evolve and expand its HPH program based on home buyer needs and shifting market dynamics.
“The goal is to always ensure our homes offer the latest technology and innovations,” he says.
