A new housing concept by Out of the Box Building Systems was modeled in the Pensacola, Fla., area last week. Cody Long, for MyPanhandle.com, says the homes can withstand natural disasters, such as hurricanes, fires, and floods, and even protect against mildew and termites. Check out more details about the project below.
The structure went up in just three days, and you would never know it's different from its neighbors. The materials used to build it make it resistant to fire, mold, mildew and termites. It's also energy efficient and can withstand a Category 5 hurricane.
"What we're doing is taking the house, we are packaging it in a shipping container and we send it out to the site to be constructed," Out of the Box Investor Lisa Sharp said. "The house itself we include all cabinetry, doors, windows, light fixtures so it really is a house in a box."
The model home is three bedrooms and two bathrooms and would cost $92,000. Those looking to buy have several options and get to choose what they want on the exterior and interior of the home.
